Wright 2023: Year of Highlights!

 
As 2023 wraps up, let's celebrate a year of achievements and breakthroughs at Wright, where we lead the charge in aircraft decarbonization.

2023 Highlights:
  • Achieved 1 MW of shaft power on the world’s most advanced aviation electric motor, later hitting 1.2 MW peak and 1.1 MW continuous power output. Read more here and here.
  • Launched an ultra-lightweight battery development program. Read more here.
  • Announced the development of lightweight, compact generators for the US Department of Defense. More on DoD generators here.
  • Completed the maiden flight of our 800 kW hybrid-electric crop duster aircraft in partnership with Axter Aerospace. Read about the flight test here.
  • Signed a Space Act Agreement with NASA to conduct altitude testing at the NEAT facility. Read more here

Event highlights:
  • Paris Air Show - Wright announced the development of a 30 kW lightweight generator with the US Air Force and the achievement of 1 MW of shaft power with our electric motor-generator as well as signed a Space Act Agreement with NASA.
  • ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit - Wright’s Head of Powertrain, Dr. Colin Tschida, presented about Wright's Electric Propulsion Unit.
  • Climate Week NYC - Wright’s Founder & CEO, Jeff Engler, displayed the prototype of our 2 MW electric jet engine at Newlab’s New Climate Futures event in Brooklyn!
